Aguiar da Beira

Aguiar da Beira is part of the Guarda district and is part of the demarcated Dão wine region, with agriculture being the main occupation for a large part of the population. Aguiar da Beira is associated with the production of Serra cheese. In the appropriate seasons, chestnuts and potatoes are also plentiful. Kid goat, veal and pork crackling are the most typical dishes, as is cod à Ponte do Abade, but the cheese tarts are the calling card. From the hands of the artisans in the municipality come clogs, baskets, straw huts, hoods and rush gaiters, the typical clothing of this region.
