Carrazeda de Ansiães

Although included in the Terra Quente Transmontana (Hot Land), Carrazeda de Ansiães presents, to the north, a plateau area that takes us to the more rugged Terra Fria (Cold Land), with a predominance of granite, vineyards and cereals. To the south, the temperature rises and the landscape changes, giving way to valleys surrounded by rivers where shale, vineyards, olive and almond trees predominate. Its people dedicate themselves especially to peasant agriculture, and Port and table wine, apples and olive oil present high quality products. Tourism is gaining importance due to part of the municipality being included in the Douro Vinhateiro (Douro Wine Region). The gastronomy stands out with excellent wines aged in oak or chestnut casks, honey, smoked meats, river fish, game and almond-based sweets.
