Considered the largest archaeological crypt in the country, it is located beneath the Castle of Alcácer do Sal, now transformed into the Pousada D. Afonso II. It presents traces of the Iron Age dating from the 6th century BC, as well as structures from the Roman period and the Islamic occupation, covering a considerable area. Medieval walls from the post-Reconquista Christian era were also found, based partially on Roman walls which, in turn, overlap older pre-existing structures dating from the Iron Age.

Building formed by two separate volumes with different eras of construction: a 17TH century and another in the 18th century. The first presents a simple facade, in granite, with Renaissance-style balcony. The second displays a door with coat and six Windows of the facade, all of apron. The House has a 17th century chapel located near the second body. In this temple stands the Mannerist portal with the coat of arms of the Bishop of Porto.

The early church was built in the 16th century, which remains the Manueline portal. In 1970 was destroyed to make way for that today. The façade is rounded and consists of nave, chancel, belfry and vestry. Located on the south bank of the Tâmega River and bordering Santa Maria de Sobretâmega, the Church of São Nicolau, next to the old Canaveses Bridge, displays a late design within the context of Portuguese Romanesque architecture, evident in its column-less, capital-less portals and plain corbels. This church preserves, though very fragmented, important remains of mural painting from the 16th and 17th centuries.

16th century church with Manueline portal, consisting of nave and chancel. The façade is distinguished by the Royal arms, with the date of 1808, and a Latin cross in the top. Inside are an altarpiece of João de Rouen, the talha, the paintings of the caissons and the two painted canvas of lateral cloths, representative of the visitation and da Nossa Senhora da Conceição. In 1810 was the target of attack by the French troops who destroyed the registry's mercy.
