Castle located on top of a very strong hill, which gave rise to the name of the village. Currently, only a few remains remain, one of the medieval towers and some sections of the wall. Conquered by King Afonso Henriques in 1139, this town was populated by King Afonso III in 1257. In 1512 King Manuel granted it a new charter. Built by King Dinis in 1309, this castle was built on Roman foundations and had a wall surrounding the entire town.

Castle probably dated from the Bronze age and rebuilt during the reign of Dinis. In 1319 moved to the hand of the order of Christ. At the time of the restoration War, residents erected a stronghold around, with defensive purposes. Consists of a walled perimeter that includes a single door with double row of staves.

The upper floor has eight windows. The right part is of the beginning of the century and it forms a turret with three floors. Before the central part, of the 1700s, there is a stone flight of stairs.

House with facade with a single cloth, limited in the corners of the building by slightly projecting pilasters.
