The Romanesque church of the monastery of Pombeiro was one of the few in Portugal to obey the plan of three naves, which reveals the importance of this House in the medieval context of the country. Over time, Pombeiro became head of the land of Shah, arriving to take under its patronage 37 parishes. This Romanesque period only the two absidíolos and the main portal, four archivolts.

This church has a Romanic structure that through the time it underwent several transformations. It still maintains the corbel and two rose windows on the façades. It presents on covered porch connecting the main façade to the campanile. On the inside it has a nave and the cross arch settled on columns with worked capitals from the primitive period. It stands out the main chapel with carving altarpieces.

The church of Saint Anthony, or mother church of Estoril, was built in 1527 in a place where there was a hermitage dedicated to Saint Roque. This church went through several calamities, including the earthquake in 1755 and a big fire in 1927 but it was immediately recovered in both times. A special note to the baroque fronton and, inside, the tile panels with motives of the life and miracles of Saint Anthony.

Silves

Al'Mutadid, lord of Seville, conquered the city of Silves in 1053 and his son, Al'Mutamid, was appointed to rule over it at the tender age of 12. It was during this time that, alongside Ibn Ammar, a local poet, Al'Mutamid dedicated himself to poetry, music and singing. When forced to return to Seville he wrote a famous poem saluting the city of Silves.

Vila Franca de Xira

This 18th century residence used to belong to the Counts of Vila Nova de Portimão. The Palace was reconstructed during Pombaline time and all the ensemble was enriched with glazed tiles panels’ application. The estate has several terraces and paths sided by boxwood, a small chapel, a lake and a 18th century church all covered with glazed tiles from that period.

Vila Nova de Paiva

The Medieval Sarcophagi are located in Vila Cova à Coelheira, more precisely on Avenida do Brasil (next to the Main Church). They date back to medieval times but are displaced from the location of the archaeological find. These sarcophagi are carved from granite blocks in an advanced state of deterioration, they belonged to the cemetery of the old church of Vila Nova à Coelheira.
