The retreat of the Grandmother Lydia offers stays with signature. Situated in the Natural Park Sierra Daire and lamps, the retreat of the Grandmother Lydia has created programs that are more than mere accommodation, are promoting contact with the traditions, typical rural activities, the architectural and natural heritage of the region.

This garden, designed by architect Sidónio Pardal, is one of the main green spaces of São João da Madeira. Very well taken care of and pleasant, runs parallel to the Avenida da Liberdade and extends from the building of the town hall to the place of the bridge, reaching the river Ul and their margins. The garden connects the urban park installed along the Valley traversed by the same river.

This urban park is of particular relevance in the municipality, with vast grassy areas and some forested areas, with a climbing wall, slide, minigolf course and half-pipes, picnic area, athletics track, maintenance circuit, cycle path, mountain biking area , flight slope, jumping tower, among other equipment. It also houses an environmental education center and the Municipal Veterinary Center.

In this park, you can find the most representative autochthonous species of the area, including 150 plant species. You will find deer, wild boar, Serra da Estrela dogs, fallow deer, pheasants, partridges and foxes. In a total area of six hectares, there are marked routes covering an area of about three hectares, allowing visitors to enjoy privileged contact with nature.

Oceanographic entertainment park with shows of dolphins, seals, sea lions, among other species. It has a space, the "Oceanus", which includes an auditorium, an exhibition of sharks, dolphins and whales, a gallery with numerous small aquariums and even a giant aquarium inhabited by sharks.
