Museum placed on a set of buildings where the production, storage, commercialization, and exportation of Madeira wine, this is one of the oldest cellars in Funchal. Here are letters of famous personalities, documents of English firms that began the company, books, tools, a press from the XVII century and machines from that time.

Museum installed in a part of the IMisericórdia Church, which has one of the rarest altarpieces in the country of its kind, according to technicians from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in addition to oil canvases on the Passion of Christ, canvases from the 16th and 17th centuries and other images stored in this space.

The Museum is located in the Castle of Lindoso and features two exhibitions. The armoury collection, with weapons from the 14th to the 19th century, and the archaeology collection of the Lindoso area. The Oven room houses the collection of objects found in the digs by the castle, that range from pre-history to our own days.

At the foot of a mountain is this manor, dating from the 17th century and classified as Building of public interest. This is a very nice house, with just two rooms and a magnificent view of Pico, Sao Jorge island and the sea. Just 20 metres from the door you can swim and fish.

This building is one of the finest examples of the end of Middle Ages’ civil architecture. It is a gothic building from the XIV or XV century, characterized by two beautiful ogival doors. It is one of the biggest buildings in the area and has elements from several periods, witnessing a big historical density.

A Baroque building with two-story facades, composed of two sections, one dating from the 18th century and the other from the 19th century. The main facade is punctuated by bay windows and crowned by a backrest carved with a coat of arms. The side facades and the interior have been renovated.

According to tradition, this hermitage was founded by King Sancho I to commemorate the capture of Beja from the Moors in 1162. The ogival reconstruction, however, dates from the 15th century. It is part of the group of Gothic-Mudéjar constructions, typical of the Alentejo region, highlighting the narthex, the conical pinnacles and the battlements.

Church built in the XVIII century in the place where a chapel from the XV century used to be. Inside are visible some goldsmithery from the XVII and XVIII centuries and some paintings. At the lateral chapel is the body of Charles Habsburg, Emperor of Austria, Hungary and Bohemia, exiled in 1931 to Madeira.

The Porta da Devesa dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries and forms an archway over Rua 5 de Outubro. Its name comes from the fact that it separated the town proper from the fertile countryside that followed it at the time, or even because it was the terminus of that same town.

This cave was discovered by chance in 1961 during mining operations. Several tools from the Mousterian industry and stone artifacts from the Upper Paleolithic and Neolithic periods were found here. However, its most important find is a Neanderthal tooth, approximately 30,000 years old.
