Built amidst cliffs and vegetation, this convent is also known as the Convent of Santa Cruz da Serra or of Cork. A simple, rustic construction, it was founded in 1560 by D. Álvaro de Castro, fulfilling a vow he made to his father, D. João de Castro. Everything in this space is miniature: the cells, lined with cork, the refectory, and the small church with its marble altar, whose vault was carved from the rock itself. It is believed to have been abandoned in 1834, following the suppression of religious orders decreed by the liberal regime.

This multi-functional space science and technology presents interactive exhibitions in several spaces of the building. Offers library, Mini Lab, Auditorium and aquariums. The refurbishment of the building actually honorable mention earned by the jury of the Prix Alexandre Herculano Architecture National. Is a much visited by students, since they have a varied set of proposals for an experimental approach, and creative science, plastic providing children and young people to acquire new knowledge in different areas of science.

When it was created, in 1945, it was called “Museu de Etnografia e História do Douro Litoral”. Since that time it is placed at the Plácio de São João Novo, dated from the XVIII century. This monument has been suffering a huge degradation, being, in 1989, under the guardianship of the IPPC and, in 1991, of the IPM. Closed to the public since 1992, the IPM has being transferring its collections to various museums. Works in the façade and the coverings of the palace have being made and, after the inventory systematization, the intension is to solve the problem definitively.

Strong pentagonal plant, once intended for the defense of the city of Horta and its port of pirates attacks. Have been named, initially, of Forte de Santo António and was built in the second half of the 16th century. The original defensive system only the outer walls. Was ceded, in 1927, the Town Hall of Horta to be torn down and increase the avenida marginal. However, the lack of funds meant that the plans were not fulfilled. About 2 km north of the beautiful village of Montalegre, near the chapel of Santo Adrião, are these interesting anthropomorphic graves dated between the 10th and 13th centuries. Consist of three graves in granite and a grave excavated in schistose rock anthropomorphic too, in the back of the chapel. It is thought that exist outside a village, to which these tombs may belong, and may be only part of a necropolis affects the village.
