Museum opened in 1913, that had as its initial collection collections that belonged to the Institute of Coimbra and to the Museum of the Bucks. It's National Museum since the Decade of 60 and its name is intended to honor the Royal sculptor in the reigns of d. José, d. Maria I and d. João VI and the most notable representative of 18TH century Portuguese sculpture. After refurbishment, reopened to the public in full in 2012. The permanent exhibition areas and host visitors are focused on building refurbished, classified a national monument.
