Museu Municipal de Santiago do Cacém

Housed in the former county jail building, built in 1844, across from City Hall, here you can explore a remarkable archaeological collection that traces the human presence in the region, from the Paleolithic to the medieval period. Of particular note is Miróbriga, an important Roman settlement, which occupies a special place in this museum, with a dedicated room where you can view exhumed pieces.

Created in 1977 in the former Jesuit College, this museum tells the history of the island and the city of Horta. The exhibition consists of ethnographic objects (by highlighting the laces and handcrafted made from fig tree), nautical, technological objects (linked to the history of communications) and artistic. It also features an exhibition of sacred art in the 16th and 17th centuries, of elements and religious figures gathered in churches and chapels of the island.
Escultura de Dom Afonso Henriques por João Cutileiro

This sculpture of King Dom Afonso Henriques, situated at one end of the Largo João Franco, soon after entering through the gates of the village, was opened in 2001 in the commemorations of the day 24 June municipal holiday in the city of Guimarães. To carry out this work, the author João Cutileiro was inspired by the books of primary statement of the 1940, where the first King of Portugal was represented with an amount.

With roots in the middle ages, the tanning industry occupied, in other times, a specific zone, located at the gates of the city, called "Ribeira hides". Given the historical significance and heritage of this area and constituting an essential element of this region, was classified as a Building of public interest, in 1977. In this way, the route of Industrial heritage of Vale do Ave highlights the tanning of Ramada factory as a significant example in full operation.

This monument was built outside the city walls on the place where it used to be an ancient – Christian basilica; the exact date of its foundation is unknown. Its present configuration is the result from the alterations and transformations operated, mostly during the 15th and 16th century. This church shelters the Visigoth Museum Queen Dona Leonor. Here it is possible to admire the biggest ensemble of Visigoth capitals existing in Portugal.

This granite gate, located on a wall, has a tile panel on one of the sides where one can read its name and a reference to Dom Afonso V and to its elevation to Namtional Monument. At the medieval time, when there were seven gates, it was meant to serve as a defense of the city. Currently, there are only two gates left: the Soar or Arco dos Malos Gate and the Cavaleiros Gate.

Building also called Solar dos Sá Vargas, which underwent several alterations in the 20th century, the balconies were restored, the main staircase of the building removed and the windows on the upper floor placed. In 1947, a Bank of Portugal branch was installed here and, in 2001, it was acquired by the Bragança City Council. Currently, the space is occupied by the Graça de Morais Contemporary Art Center.
