17th century church that took 17 years to be built. In the façade are worthy of notice the six big windows placed as if in civil building, ornamented with baroque motifs. Inside stands out the triumphal arch decoration and the crucified Christ sculpture at the secondary altar. At the back of the church was built the Capela dos Aflitos, standing out the glazed tile panel with the crucified Christ.

It is classified as a National Monument and occupies a prominent place in the square with the same name. It is a fine example of Manueline religious architecture, rich in details, having been built in the 16th century. Carved in granite, it rests on an octagonal base decorated with plant elements, while the shaft is spiraled with a ring, decorated with a rope and stylized plants. The cross has Jesus Christ crucified.

This small building was built in a place previously occupied by the Colégio de Santiago Maior. It was founded in the first half of the 17th century by the Companhia de Jesus. In the 19th century, the church was adapted to a theatre and the three doors and three windows of the original building were preserved. The central body was enlarged at the expense of the two towers that surrounded it. The interior was adapted to its new functions.

A baroque chapel known for its big yearly procession that takes place in the month of August. In 1674 it was the Chapel of Bom Jesus do Santo Sepulcro do Calvário, later it became Bom Jesus da Via Sacra and still later on it adopted its current name. It has numerous paintings offered to Our Lady of Agonia as a testimony of accomplished miracles.

Construction ordered by the grandfather of the Marquês de Pombal, it is a palace from the XVII century with improvements made between 1760 and 1770. Besides its architectonical and artistic value, it also has the historic importance of being the birth place and house of the Marquês de Pombal. Its two main façades envelop an interior garden. There are two large gates facing north.

From the fifteen hundreds period, the church still preserves the Manueline door, with slender columns and decoration using vegan elements. The inside has one only nave with tunnel ceiling with painted coffers. It should be mentioned the altarpiece on the main altar from the 17th century and the glazed tiles cover. The Calvary, placed in the church yard is from the 17th century, as well.

This was, with its iron railings, one of the medieval entrances in the city. Located between the Rua da Fonte Taurina and the Cais da Ribeira, under the Muro dos Bacalhoeiros, this is the only wicket belonging to the XIV century medieval wall that still stands nowadays. It is in a quite hidden place, between the Rua da Fonte Taurina and the Cais da Estiva or Alfândega Velha.

Ancient Roman settlement located at the place called Muradelhas, about 1.5 kilometres of Montalegre, just over 1000 meters of altitude. This is a high bit evident, currently covered by a dense undergrowth. Are still visible two thick walls and inside wide platforms where identifying alignments of structures. Throughout the town were found fragments of Roman pottery.
