This museum, integrated into the University of Beira Interior, aims to safeguard and preserve the extensive heritage of the textile industry in the municipality of Covilhã. It also aims to research and disseminate the technology related to the industrialization of wool production. It is divided into three sections: the Real Fábrica Veiga/Centro de Interpretação dos Lanifícios, which is the current headquarters of the Museum; the Real Fábrica de Panos and the Râmolas de Sol.

Chapel situated on a small elevation, in the old Rossio das Hortas, surrounded by houses on both sides and with a front patio. Ancient records do repackage its existence to the year 1536. It was then remodelled in the 17th and 18th centuries. Inside are murals, chronicling nine moments of life of St. Peter. The paintings have a baroque nature and are subtitled in archaic Portuguese. With roots in the middle ages, the tanning industry occupied, in other times, a specific zone, located at the gates of the city, called "Ribeira hides". Given the historical significance and heritage of this area and constituting an essential element of this region, was classified as a Building of public interest, in 1977. In this way, the route of Industrial heritage of Vale do Ave highlights the tanning of Ramada factory as a significant example in full operation.

This granite gate, located on a wall, has a tile panel on one of the sides where one can read its name and a reference to Dom Afonso V and to its elevation to Namtional Monument. At the medieval time, when there were seven gates, it was meant to serve as a defense of the city. Currently, there are only two gates left: the Soar or Arco dos Malos Gate and the Cavaleiros Gate.
