Where the medieval fortification once stood, the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Castelo was installed. The chapel replaced a previous one from the 14th century. With baroque and neoclassical characteristics, this monument attracts attention due to the tower raised above the façade. Its finishes are in stonework, comprising a nave, a sacristy and a meeting room. The interior also shows an elegant chancel, whose neoclassical altarpiece in gilded and white carving rises on high steps. The interior tile panels depict episodes from the life of the Virgin.

It is an extensive stretch of sand, between the sea and the Ria Formosa, located about 9 km from Faro city. Access is by boat, from Faro, or by car, crossing the only existing bridge for this purpose, with alternating traffic, which generates long queues. The different constructions took away some natural beauty, but brought more animation and structures to serve the tourist in the summer. The sand is narrow and relatively uneven. It has excellent conditions for rowing, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, etc.

This beach is situated in a typical and beautiful fishing village. The sand of Palheiros is one of the largest in the country, a magnificent stretch of sand approximately 12 to 15 km long. This beach is perfect for surfing, and in the summer it also has a water park and the necessary equipment. The fishermen's huts, with their equipment for the traditional fishing method known as "xávega," are located in the northern area, sheltered by the dune system that extends there and forms a barrier protecting from sea winds and preventing storms from causing damage inland.

The Quinta de São Luiz restaurant occupies the space of a farmhouse dating from the seventeenth century and was rehabilitated to make way for a modern building, which also includes an area for events with capacity for 500 people. In 2014, a new dining room was opened with more affordable prices (dishes from € 6), and the new bar. The kitchen presents with great creativity and culinary rigor, supported by consulting chef Hélio Santos. The wine list is extensive and representative of the various regions of the country.

Sortelha, located on a high rocky hill at an altitude of over 760 meters, is one of the oldest villages in the country. With excellent defensive conditions, it was initially inhabited by Castro cultures and, much later, populated by King Sancho II. Of the medieval castle, which underwent several transformations, some defensive towers, the keep, and, along the walls, some Gothic gates remain. Of particular note is the parish church, dating from the 14th century, with Baroque carvings on the main altar from the 18th century.

The submarine valley known as the Nazaré Canyon is the largest in Europe and one of the largest in the world. Cutting across the continental shelf in a roughly east-west direction, it extends for more than 170 km in length and reaches a depth of over 5,000 meters in the abyssal plain where this canyon flows into the sea. This spectacular geomorphological feature of tectonic origin, related to the Nazaré-Pombal fault, begins to take shape about 500 meters from the coast. Small bathing area on the banks of the river Nabão, an artificial structure that some attribute, wrongly, as being the source of the river Nabão. In that area, from a wealth of mineralized water cold, thermal and curative of diseases of the skin.

This walking trail stretches along the Douro River slope, from the old Customs building to the former Pousada de Santa Catarina. Enjoy the wonderful views of the river while soaking up the tranquility of the place.

The former "Casa de Baixo" (Lower House), dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, belonged to the nobleman Francisco Cabral Metello. This museum recreates the romantic monarchy of bourgeois society prior to the establishment of the Republic.

In this museum, property of the Town Hall, is installed the atelier of the Porto’s painter António Carneiro. Here we can admire an important part from the work of this great artist who lived between 1872 and 1930.
