Quinta do Panascal's reputation dates back to the 18th century, when wines from the Távora River were considered among the best in Portugal. Fonseca purchased the Quinta in 1978, as the estate had been supplying its grapes to Fonseca for over 20 years. Quinta do Panascal wines have always been an important component in the Fonseca vintage blend. In 1985 the size of the property increased with the acquisition of Quinta do Val dos Muros. Cabeço das Pombas

Located on a granite outcrop, in the parish of Pinheiros, the rock engravings of Cabeço das Pombas constitute an artistic-religious manifestation of great importance, with supposed origins in the Bronze Age, although their exact symbolism is unknown. It is believed that they were associated with a ceremonial cult. The figures inscribed on the rock are grouped into sets, engraved at different times, the oldest being the central one.
