O Tamboril é um pequeno tambor, feito pelos próprios tocadores. Este instrumento é utilizado com os "corais majestosos" ou "modas", que são canções a duas, três ou quatro vozes, cantadas por grupos de alentejanos, em geral só por homens.

Built in the 13th century, the castle was rebuilt in the 15th and 16th centuries by Fernão Anes, master of the Military Order of Aviz. Of the castle's six towers, only three and a few sections of the wall remain, adapted for modern construction. This is a Renaissance sculpture ensemble where one can point out the Passion of the Christ symbols sided by the figures of São João and Maria Madalena supported over a tomblike arch. Some authors defend that the silhouette figures initially didn´t make part of the ensemble integrating a primitive sculptures altarpiece from the church.
