Azenha do Mar originated from the commercial harvesting of red algae that grows on the southwest coast of Portugal, known scientifically as Gelidium sesquipedale. For this small, isolated fishing community, sea work is the main and almost exclusive economic activity for most of the year, but in the summer, the focus shifts to "slime harvesting" (algae harvesting), an activity that changes the seaweed's appearance and odor.

The Whale Cove Adventure Park is an area where the adventure sports and nature come together to provide moments of great escape. The tree climbing route of 850 meters long, with fantastic paintball scenarios, is the main attraction of the Park. Develops a wide range of activities: guidance, treasure hunt, climbing, Abseiling, canoeing, Slide, target shooting, Blowgun and Beast.

The Geological Trail, the public garden of Beja, is a project of Geoscience outreach to the general public and schools, including fragments of the geologic history of southern Portugal, in the last 1000 million years, since the Neoproterozoic to the present day. Over 200 m and using a scale where every meter traveled equates to 5 million years ago, the main rock formations of the Alentejo.

Inaugurated in 2005, with the aim of promoting and preserving the local culture, this space includes pieces of sacred art that were part of the Museum of Sacred Art of Gouveia, a small collection of Cardinal Mendes Belo and the stone of the Synagogue of Gouveia, dating from 1496. In the main room there is a small photo library with photographs of Gouveia from the 1930s and 1940s by João Carvalho and César Nogueira.

A church with a longitudinal plan and three manuelin style naves, with some gothic influence. Even though the typical structure and decoration are preserved in the main chapel, modifications of the 1800's are visible in the exterior, as well as even later modifications in the interior. One should notice the lateral wainscots and the triumphal arch with pattern tiles, dating back to the end of the 17th century.

This church features Baroque architecture and a longitudinal plan consists of nave and chancel. The belfry has a Bell and access on the rear face. The interior features chorus-high and, on the side of the Gospel, baptistery. Side altarpieces of carved polychrome and gilded Baroque style. The main altarpiece demonstrates a transition with baroque structure and national joanino decorative elements. In the sacristy are a Rococo carved altarpiece.

18th century Church of longitudinal plant consists of a wide nave and a narrower chancel, a Bell Tower located near on the right and a sacristy and annexes adossados on the left. It was built in the 16th century and remodelled in the 18th century. Emphasis on the exterior door of the sacristy, 16th century; for the 17th century main portal and for stone grave cover with engraved inscriptions, 17th century.

Manueline building with Mudejar influences, designed by Diogo Arruda. The church features a wide nave with a small apse flanked by two apsidioles. The main façade features a wide Manueline portal and a small openwork window with a round arch. It is decorated with 18th-century murals. Inside, the church is structured in three naves of five bays, with the apse almost embedded in the wall.

This is a manueline and mannerist church composed by two sacristies, a mortuary house and a bell tower. The main façade presents a portico in full arch, with pilasters framed on the sides. On the interior it presents one only nave with five openings and six ranks with perfectly vaulted arches, standing out the Steps Chapel with cribbed vault, pulpit, three altars and slab pavement.

The building of the old Clube dos Ingleses (English Club) has two floors. The upstairs floor has balcony windows with iron bars ended by triangular and curved forms’ frontons. The main front opens to the ancient garden with three curved doors. Inside the building the hall with six arches, based on pillars, the stucco decoration and the paintings on the ceiling stand out.
