Considered to be one of the city’s ex-libris, the Serra do Pilar (and its typical church) is located at the city entrance, one of the highest places of Vila Nova de Gaia. The Convent, that no longer functions, belonged to the observing prebendary of Santo Agostinho, that occupied the place during the 16th century. In front of the church there’s a belvedere with one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Oporto.

The Fontaínhas Viewpoint is located in one of the historic areas of the city of Porto. It is located next to Ponte do Infante and, from here, you can see Vila Nova de Gaia, on the other side of the river, as well as part of the popular D. Luís I Bridge. It is also one of the most used places to see the fireworks foe the Saint John feasts.

A castle built during the Romanesque period, it features elements characteristic of the period's military architecture, such as the keep crowned by battlements and a patrol path. Both its location within the territory and various documentary sources attest to its existence during this period. It is closely linked to the nearby Monastery of São Bento de Arnoia, where some Romanesque remains can be found.

Castle made of stone masonry and a thick wall, with a wide walkway running along the entire wall. The Porta do Celeiro stands out, flanked by a single turret, the Porta de Estremoz, leading to the large Alentejo square, flanked by its two towers. Still worthy of attention is the Keep, reinforced with marble masonry on the corners, square and squat, completely solid.

It is a large fortified town dating from the iron age\/Roman times with occupation in the middle ages. The houses feature a round plant, some with separate foyer and lajeadas streets. There are five lines of ramparts, reinforced by the rising side by turrets arranged in accordance with the terrain or accidents where the need for defence to that required. It is also known as Monte do Castelo de Neiva.

Founded in the 16th century by Baltasar de Andrade, this was one of the richest convents in the city. The convent of Santa Clara stands out thanks to its symmetric facade, divided in three and the portico has an image of the Patron Saint. It has a spacious courtyard and an impressive two-storey cloister. Currently, the City Hall is here and a part of the building houses the Municipal Archive.

Capela do sé. XVIII com uma bonita fachada, tem no seu interior o altar-mor formado por três nichos. No central destaca-se a imagem do orago e os laterais albergam as imagens de S. João Baptista dum lado e Nossa Senhora das Dores, do outro.

A farinheira é um enchido típico de Portugal feito com base em carnes entremeadas do porco, incluindo pão ou farinha. Pode ser servida cozida, como complemento do cozido à portuguesa ou da feijoada e frita, acompanhando rojões. Deve ser conservada num local fresco.

As lapas são um petisco muito saboreado nas ilhas dos Açores, sendo geralmente apanhadas nas rochas, o que faz com que tenham pouca areia, tornando mais fácil a sua limpeza. São distribuídas de porta em porta pelas mulheres dos pescadores que as transportam em cestos.

Da matança do porco nasceram receitas para todos os gostos, incluindo doces. Este doce, que recheia as tripas das morcelas, é um grande exemplo da criatividade da doçaria desta região. É servido normalmente na época da matança do porco, como forma de comemoração.
