The Sá da Bandeira Theatre – initially Teatro-Circo and, after, Teatro do Príncipe Real – was open on August, 4th, 1855, being at the time a wood hut. In 1867 it was destroyed and, at the same place, a stone house was built. A week after the Republic Implantation, in 1910, it was called Teatro Sá da Bandeira.

Classed since 1978 as a public interest parish, Piódão is located near the Hermínios Hills and is one of the oldest villages in the country, surrounded by wide green areas. The village was firstly inhavited by sheperds. Its houses are mostly made of schist. Because it is difficult to get to, the village is known for the escape of well known criminals. This building was built by the corregedor Francisco de Almada e Mendonça to serve as Casa Pia, the year was 1790. This had various uses such as: prison of recruits and military criminals, secretariats and offices belonging to the garrison at the port, where resided the Bachelors official Royal police guard and North region headquarters (installed on the north side of the building). Years later was converted into headquarters for the distribution of farm, pagadoria, military headquarters, electric telegraph station and civilian Government. It is a wooden device consisting of a hydraulic driving wheel, axle, cigarette packs and the mixer. Although the main purpose of the Piso be to grant a more compact texture to wool cloths, in most cases it is also used to strengthen blankets or quilts with some use and to dye fabric. The process of fulling industry consists in the wash, in pisoamento itself (the cloths are churned up and beaten by the packs, press the warp and weft) and finish (the cloths are put to dry in the Sun).

This fortified settlement preserves part of the three lines of walls and a moat that partially surrounds it. It is strategically located on a bend in the Rabagão River, which is defended by it. In the middle wall, a gateway to the settlement can still be seen. Everything indicates that the fort developed primarily on the upper platforms, within the limits of the second wall, as ruins of fortified structures are visible there. The settlement is confined to the hilltop, with the exception of an extension of the outer wall into a natural recess, where some buildings can be identified. …
