Implanted in what used to be the outskirts of Benfica, the Grandela Quarter was meant to lodge the workers from “Sociedade Algodoeira do Fomento Colonial” and the employees from the “Armazéns Grandela” (both property of Francisco Grandela). The building plan had a mainly private character, with railings and gates bounding the whole disposed along three streets. Located in a valley adjacent to the Serra dos Candeeiros, it is bathed by a stream that originates in the picturesque site of Olhos de Água. Here, you'll find beautiful natural caves and rooms with stalactites, calcite crystals, and remains of bones. Among the architectural heritage, a megalithic dolmen (Property of Public Interest) attached to the church stands out, containing a fifteenth-century sculpture, and traces of Roman times, evident in the ruins of a communal oven.

Located on a cliff 400 meters above sea level, Alter Pedroso is an ancient village, six kilometers from the municipal seat (Alter do Chão) and around twenty from the city of Portalegre. Of particular note are the remains of the old castle, the church with baroque remains and the houses featuring popular and well-preserved architecture. Nearby there is a tourist hunting area. Also, noteworthy is the Talefe or Alter Pedroso natural viewpoint.

Located 17 kilometers from Rio Maior, the area's main feature is its extensive valley with rock salt flats. Architectural highlights include the Nossa Senhora do Rosário parish church, the pillory, the former Town Hall, now the Azambujeira Regional Museum, and the single-arch stone fountain bridge built during the reign of Queen Maria.
