Prato muito antigo da gastronomia da serra da Estrela, a sua receita tem sido recuperada nos últimos tempos, sendo a carqueja uma erva aromática com sabor forte, também muito apreciada na preparação de infusões. Sendo uma erva bravia, talvez por isso os cozinhados adquiram um sabor característico.

Desta associação fazem parte artesãos que trabalham na cerâmica, estanho, bordados, cestaria, instrumentos musicais, madeira, tapeçaria, artes decorativas, bonecas, doces, aguarelas, entre outros. O objetivo desta associação é promover e modernizar o trabalho destes artesãos, de maneira a manter viva a tradição e os costumes locais.

Tal como em muitos pontos do País, a ilha da Madeira inclui, nas suas receitas gastronómicas, os produtos típicos da região. A açorda à moda do Funchal não é exceção e, na sua confeção, são utilizadas papas de milho, bem como batata-doce assada como acompanhamento.
