The fortress stands on the eastern spur of Serra da Arrábida, from which you can see an extensive landscape from Sines to Sintra. Its main points of interest are the entrance, the 17th century walls, the convent of the Order of Santiago, the church of Santiago, from the 15th century, the Paços de D. Jorge, the turrets, the 14th century keep, the ruins of the church of Santa Maria, the parade ground and several portals. There is also the Castle Nucleus, one of the museum spaces of the Palmela Municipal Museum.

This urban ensemble denotes the medieval character of this village. It is entirely surrounded by walls and has an urban structure that extends from the citadel, entrances, and parade grounds. Of the six gates and posterns cut into the walls, the Porta da Vila stands out, with its chapel oratory, balcony, and attached staircase, all covered in tiles. Built in the 16th century, the palace is a Manueline building located in the north wing of the castle. By the 17th century, the castle was already damaged, a situation exacerbated by the 1755 earthquake, and it was subsequently rebuilt.

Close to the Quartel das Esquadras, the Town Hall of Almeida operates in a historic and emblematic building, dating from the 18th century and which previously housed the Former Body of the Main Guard. With a Neoclassical style, it is the last military building built from scratch for military purposes in Almeida. On the main façade, the three arches framed by pilasters stand out, as well as the triangular pediment, which integrates the royal arms. These show the shield surrounded by acanthus and baroque shells, supported by warlike elements.

This was the first golf course in Madeira, built in 1937 and then redesigned in 1991 by the famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones. Overlooking Machico Bay, it has three courses, each with two par-5s, two par-3s and five par-4s. The "Machico" and "Desertas" courses are those usually used during the Madeira Open, while the "Serras" course, gently flat, maintains the level of play. Santo da Serra hosts the Madeira Open annually, a tournament integrated into the PGA European Tour.

The result of a protocol signed between the City Council and the University of the Azores, this museum is organized with a central space, the Municipal Museum, and three museum centers integrated into the community: the Olaria museum center, the Forno de Loiça and the Fábrica da Luz museum center. Here you can see pottery objects, ceramics, learn about traditional arts and crafts and appreciate a collection of traditional vessels from the Azores. It also works as a research center in the areas of Archaeology, Ethnography and History.
