Located on the northwestern slope of the mountain range, this village preserves a large number of thatched-roofed houses made of loose stone. The 18th-century main church and the 12th-century memorial are noteworthy. Traditional costumes are still worn today.

It has been known as Colonial Garden, later as Overseas Garden and still as Tropical Agricultural Garden. Today it is one of the most pleasant green spaces of Lisbon, with more than 500 species of tropical and subtropical flora in gardens and greenhouses.

Presents itself today as a single column, in whose base if recorded, probably as far back as the 17th century, a commemorative inscription of peace performed by Queen Santa Isabel between Dinis and the future Dom Afonso IV, his son.

A rather scenic village whre one must visit the parish church and the Chapel of Saint António. Famed for its black clay craftswork.

Unhais-o-Velho is crossed by the Unhais river. The Parish Church, the Poligonal Chapel of Santo Cristo and the Chapel of Saint Sebastião are worth a visit.
