This bronze bust, located in a small garden at the entrancee of the Ameida Moreira museum, intends to pay tribute to Almeida Moreira (1873-1939) at the time of the first centenary of his birth (11/25/1973).

Statue paying homage to the Portuguese navigator from the XV João Gonçalves Zarco, who discovered this island. The work is by the architects Francisco Franco and Cristino da Silva and was built up in the XIX century.

It belongs to the Ancient Massif of Trás-os-Montes, located to the North of Bragança, in the border with Spain. Along a way of more than 1000 meters and about 20 meters height, you get a dazzling perspective of the Parque das Nações and the River Tagus.
