Opened in 1999, this hostel offers good facilities and the possibility to get to know the heritage of this region. The Municipal Museum of Palmela is a set of museum spaces, the most important of which is the Castle Nucleus which, in itself, comprises four zones: Archaeological Space (in situ reading of the history of the fortification), Medieval Occupation and Reconquista, Casa Capelo (history of Palmela and the Order of Santiago) and Military Broadcast Space. In addition to this nucleus, the S. Tiago Visitable Reserve, the Church of Santiago and the Wine and Vine Center are also open to the public — as a permanent exhibition.

Located in the Peniche Fortress, this space arose from the recognition of this fortress as a memorial site and a major symbol of the struggle for freedom on a national scale. Its mission is to preserve the historical memory of the Peniche Fortress and the struggle of the Portuguese people, and in particular, the resistance to the dictatorship, for freedom and democracy. There, visitors can see the cells, visiting rooms, and the recreation yard of the prison, which also served as a residence for Germans and Austrians during World War I.
