It is the largest urban park in the country, with an area of 83 hectares that extends to the sea. Designed by the architect Sidónio Pardal, it is an open space with water mirrors, lawns, small woods and about 10 km of paths. It has excellent conditions for the practice of sports or, simply, for walking in contact with Nature. In the park, you can also visit the Water Pavilion and the Sea Life aquarium.

The plan of the castle is an irregular Pentagon. Features a thick wall and is reinforced in every angle with a tower. Four of the five towers were restored.
