It is believed that the tower and the church were constructed on the 13th century. The church with longitudinal plan was reconstructed by the end on the 17th century. On the tower it stands out the door stonework, the niche, the round opening and the bell tower which is an older construction. On the church it stands out the pulpit settled in volute corbels and for the vault with stylized vegan motifs.

Planed by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira to the Expo 98, the building is inspired in the Portuguese architecture typologies. It was one of the most visited pavilions at the expo and is now one of the ex-libris of the Parque das Nações and the place of international political meetings. The impressive “concrete sheet” suspended at the exterior gives the construction a singular touch of modernity.
