Serpa

Serpa, the "white village," named so for the color of its houses and monuments, is located in the interior of the Lower Alentejo region, in the Beja district. In the city center, the 13th-century Serpa Castle stands out, and the ancient citadel houses the Serpa Archaeological Museum. Also, worth a visit are the Church of Santa Maria, the Serpa Walls, and the Aqueduct. Regional cuisine includes "migas", grilled black pork, shepherd's lamb, black pork sausages, the famous Serpa cheese, and the curd cheese tart. A few kilometers from Serpa lies Pulo do Lobo: a waterfall of unparalleled beauty and grandeur, over 100 meters high.
