Alcanena
Alcanena is located in the heart of Ribatejo, part of the Serra de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park, with unique landscapes, caves, and interesting underground waterways. The first signs of human activity can be seen in the Neolithic remains of Lapas da Galinha and Lapas da Marmota, caves near the source of the Alviela River. As the toponym suggests, the town's origins date back to the Arab occupation. The cuisine has Ribatejo and Serrano roots, with delicacies such as "cachola", "iscas", "morcela" and sausages. Sweets include almond cake, "coscorões", "broas", and "bolos podres". Among the crafts, leather goods, the famous Minde blankets, rag dolls, and various works in burlap stand out.
