Constância

This is one of the most beautiful villages in Portugal. Located in the middle of the Ribatejo region, on the north bank of the Tagus River, Constância is known not only for its flower-filled streets and the beauty of its historic center, but above all for having been the place where the writer Luís de Camões lived. The poet wrote some of his poems here, during his exile in Ribatejo around 1546. The Constância Live Science Center is perhaps the municipality’s main calling card. With its Astronomy Theme Park, this interactive space comprises a planetarium and five astronomical observation domes. In a municipality with two rivers, fish dishes (fish soup, stew or shad "açorda") are the basis of traditional cuisine. For sweets, highlights include Montalvo "tigeladas" and "queijinhos do céu".
