Alcoutim

Alcoutim is inextricably linked to famous battles and military events, such as the Restoration War of 1642. Located in the northeastern Algarve, strategically located near the Spanish border, the Guadiana River is the municipality's greatest natural resource. It also preserves numerous roots and traditions, such as the low, whitewashed houses, a testament to traditional Algarve architecture. As for the pleasures at the table, the cuisine is based primarily on pork, bread, and olive oil. "Migas", soups, "açordas", and stews are highly appreciated in the region. And to sweeten your palate, we suggest a visit to the Doces D’Avó Fair during Easter, where you can enjoy the bread dough cake and "filhós", and even watch the making of "folares", "azevias" and egg painting.

Marina de Alcoutim

Alcoutim

A small marina located right on the Alcoutim riverfront, it offers a variety of sports, including canoeing and rowing. Also, noteworthy are the pleasant terraces along the Guadiana River.

Castelo de Alcoutim

Alcoutim

It overlooks the river and, according to archaeological excavations, was inhabited during the Iron Age and early Roman occupation. Built in the 14th century as a border defense, it underwent renovations in the 17th century. Inside, there is a small museum displaying archaeological finds and remains of buildings discovered during the excavations.

This river beach is one of the excellent recreational and leisure spots in Alcoutim. Located on the Cadavais riverbank, near the mouth of the Guadiana River, it boasts golden sand and is equipped with a wide range of facilities and services, including a parking lot, a bar, a picnic area with wooden tables, showers, a beach volleyball court, and restrooms.
