According to legend, the bridge was built by the Philippine kings, replacing an existing Roman bridge in the vicinity. It is based on 3 full arches, the central one with the largest span. It has a flat board and stonework side guards with access ramps on both sides.

It initially belonged to the Order of the Temple and passed, in the reign of King Dinis, to the Order of Christ. It is one of the main monuments of national architecture, where all the aesthetic stages, from the 12th to the 18th century, are profusely documented. Overlooking the so-called “Terras da Costa”, the approximately 13 km of this area of protected landscape, between Cova do Vapor (Costa da Caparica) and Lagoa de Albufeira, are a set of beautiful erosion forms, with high geological and paleontological interest. There, traces of living beings can be found, namely of plant origin. In areas adjacent to the cliff (pine forests of Medos and Aroeira) we can find some typical flora of the area.

It has a cylindrical base strangled in the top, torso shaft and the capital is also cylindrical strangled in the middle. It is finished by the armillary sphere in iron.

To access this beach, you will have to do it by boat. If you do not have such a vehicle, you can take a water taxi at Cais da Porta Nova, in Faro. Upon arrival, you will pass by the only restaurant on the beach, and you will find a dreamy sand area and a sea with quality water. On the beach, to the west of the place where the walkway ends, there is an area dedicated to naturism.

It is the largest urban park in the country, with an area of 83 hectares that extends to the sea. Designed by the architect Sidónio Pardal, it is an open space with water mirrors, lawns, small woods and about 10 km of paths. It has excellent conditions for the practice of sports or, simply, for walking in contact with Nature. In the park, you can also visit the Water Pavilion and the Sea Life aquarium.

Parque da Lavandeira is a large space with several themed gardens, including an aquatic garden, a grass garden, a neo-Gothic greenhouse, a garden with a labyrinth and an oriental garden. A popular place to practice sports, it often organizes outdoor activities, such as yoga or tai-chi classes. It has a children's playground, bar, picnic area and parking.
