This funerary basilica was located next to the Roman road connecting Mértola to Beja. This important monument was partially excavated in the late 19th century, and several funerary inscriptions were recovered from it, now housed in the National Archaeological Museum in Lisbon. Currently, it houses a museum where the foundations and floors of the former church are preserved. This museum contains inscribed stelae, which constitute the most important collection of Early Christian tombstones found in Portugal.

It is a large Virgin green area and great natural beauty. It is here the Fojo do Lobo of Avelar and the Miradouro da Senhora Das Treburas, offering magnificent panoramic views. The level of grass are the Pyrenean Oaks and Oak, the Phoenicean Juniper or Pine, Holly, Genista, Heather and Gorse. The Pyrenean Oak is the dominant species, since it adapts easily to mountain slopes, enduring the cold and the snow so characteristic of winters Barrosões.

A 300 metres long pedestrian walk along the São Brás hill, with the peak at an altitude of 156 metres. This hill is surrounded by wide pine woods and is a privileged spot to view th city of Nazaré. It may be seen from a distance of 35 kilometres. It became a "Classed Site" in 1979, due to its flora.

Circular castle facing the Tagus River, built in 1194 by Sir Afonso Pais and rebuilt in 1390 by Sir Nuno Álvares Pereira. It maintains the walls of the wall, partly battlemented and with traces of turrets. The entrance door was built in the 15th century and has a round arch. Inside the castle is the chapel of São Brás, which features a pleasant 17th century altarpiece. Belver Castle was the starting point for several actions against the Moors, and also served as support for King João I during the War of Independence.
