The avenue, former “Passeio Público”, was a residential area, although there are still remains of the walkway, with trees and lakes. Along the avenue are several monuments, from which stand out the monument paying homage to the word war dead soldiers, the statue of Alexandre Herculano, Almeida Garrett and Oliveira Martins.

Inside, it has the images of the Virgin and child, St. Sebastian, St. Anthony, Jesus saviour of the world, Holy Trinity, and others. The chapel has a sculpture of St. Martin of Tours, their Patron Saint, from the 15th century.

The Café - restaurant Nicola was attended by the intellectual elite of Lisbon such as Bocage. With the remodelling of the space only the façade and the sculpture of Bocage stood the same. If you come to Lisbon you have to stop here. On Thursdays there are jazz and classical music concerts, so reservation is needed.
