Placed on the north side of Rossio, the National Theatre Dona Maria II, which name pays homage to the daughter of Dom Pedro, was built in the 1840s by the Italian architect Fortunato Lodi. The façade of this neoclassic building is composed by six columns coming from the São Francisco Convent and is ended by a triangular fronton where the figures of Apollo and the Muses are sculpted. On top of the fronton is possible to see the statue of Gil Vicente, maybe the most important Portuguese dramaturge of all times, considered to be the father of the national theatre.

Sonoscopia is a space for reflection and creation, where artists related to experimental, improvised and electroacoustic music cross ideas and develop them. The space includes an agenda of events, workshops and educational activities, as well as record editions.

Initially, the raw material was just a service of orders and deliveries of disks, but currently it is stated as a meeting point for professionals and lovers of alternative music.

Inserted in the House that once belonged to Visconde de Ervedosa, son of Lieutenant-General Sepúlveda, this space works also as the seat of the Municipality and as a cultural center. He currently works as an auditorium.

It is one of the main buildings in the city and venue for some of the city's main cultural shows. It houses the Companhia Nacional do Teatro São João.

This cultural space, meeting point for different forms of artistic expression and for congresses and conferences, is housed in a 17th century emblazoned building. It has three exhibition halls, two entertainment rooms and an auditorium with a capacity for 300 people.
