This building was built by the corregedor Francisco de Almada e Mendonça to serve as Casa Pia, the year was 1790. This had various uses such as: prison of recruits and military criminals, secretariats and offices belonging to the garrison at the port, where resided the Bachelors official Royal police guard and North region headquarters (installed on the north side of the building). Built from small chapel started in 1593 and subsequently added to body of the Church, pulpit, tiles and dispatch room of the Confraternity of souls. The exterior was released on Baroque lines in the early 18TH century. The Order of the brotherhood of souls serves as the rectory of this church. Dating from the 18TH century, it is a vaulted room almost quadrangular plant completely lined with blue and white tiles of type single figure, dated 1716.
