Architectural project by Álvaro Siza Vieira, located in the Quinta da Fidalga area. The exhibition "The Essence of Form" showcases the numerous ceramic tile projects carried out by Manuel Cargaleiro throughout his artistic life. Its aim is to promote the work of Manuel Cargaleiro and contemporary art in general, through temporary exhibitions and the development of educational activities.

The Casa da Sereias is located at the Bandeirinha Street, The old Jews hill. The name which the house is known for (mermaid house) comes from the two exotic and gigantic mermaids that side the doorway. It is characterized by a simple architecture, except the magnificently sculpted façade, divided in three parts separated by pilasters, as well as the front extremes which simulate turrets crowned with battlements, delimited by pilasters that go up from the ground floor till the top. This trail can begin at the Fonte de São João, a Baroque fountain. Continue walking past the cross and the beautiful Azenha. There are many interesting places to visit, such as the Casa da Fonte Velha, the Casa do Relógio do Sol, the Igreja da Misericórdia, the Largo da Guarda Fiscal houses, and the Casa Nobre do Correio Mor. Finish the trail next to the Igreja Matriz and Casa de Farias; a few meters ahead, you'll find the starting point.

Located near the Douro river, the origins of this village that recived its first charter in 1202 precede the romans. Its name may come from the almonds, being that the almond tree fields are one of the region's main attractions. It has some valuable monuments, namely the mother church, romanesque with 16th century interiors, the 16th century pillory and the manor of the Viscounts of Banho. A visit to the ruins of Calábria, an old village founded between the 3rd and 2nd centuries bC, is also quite worthwhile.

Linked to the shepherds, Malhada Sorda is located on the right bank of the Côa River, in the Council of Almeida. Its origins date back to the paleolithic (as seen in the "pedra d'anta", near Carril), this village was oncee served by the roman road that linked Guarda and Salamanca. The traditional Portuguese architecture is combined with baroque buildings. Besides the "pedra d'anta" and th roman road, one should visit the mother church, the convent of the friars of Saint Augustine and the railway bridge.The high areas of the Côa valley are also pleasant.

A village located at an altitude of about one thousand metres, part of the so-called "Terra Fria" (Cold Land). It gave its name to the Natural Park of Montesinho, of which it is a part. A special note to the beautiful surrounding landscapes, with the green of the morasses in contrast with golden and reddish of the woods and to the popular buildings in schist and granite.
