Monument whose construction was ordered by the bishop D. Gaspar do Casal in 1557, 12 years after Leiria became a city. During the early XX century, the Convent and the Santo Agostinho church were used as a military lodging. The convent’s cloister and the baroque front sided by two towers deserve a close look.

At the centre of the Mouzinho de Albuquerque Square (Campo Novo), there is a statue of D. Pedro V on a pedestal. It was placed at the Campo de Santa Ana (Central Avenue) in 1879 and moved to the Campo Grande around 1915. It is a reproduction of another statue existing at the Praça da Batalha, in Porto, a work of the sculptor Teixeira Lopes, father.

Situado próximo da porta da vila medieval, este templo, que anteriormente acolheu a Igreja de Santa Maria de Ourém, foi remodelado e ampliado em 1445, passando a funcionar como a Colegiada de Nossa Senhora das Misericórdias, por iniciativa de D. Afonso, quarto Conde de Ourém. Destruída pelo terramoto de 1755, foi reconstruída no século XVIII, mantendo as dimensões e a planta do primeiro edifício. Da estrutura original, salvou-se apenas a cripta, onde se encontra o túmulo de D. Afonso. Na capela-mor destaca-se o coro e um quadro a óleo do século XVIII.

The original building was virtually destroyed by the corsair Francis Drake. Rebuilt in the 17th century, it was again damaged by the 1755 earthquake. This fortress consists of the ruins of several sections of 17th-century walls. Inside, there are some restored military structures that retain their original architectural design, as well as the Chapel of Santa Catarina, built by Infante D. Henrique.
