In July 2006, born the Instituto do Vinho, do Bordado e do Artesanato da Madeira, I.P. (IVBAM), which includes the Instituto do Vinho da Madeira (IVM) and the Instituto do Bordado, Tapeçarias e Artesanato da Madeira (IBTAM). This institute brings together Madeira embroidery dating from the XIX-XX centuries, costumes and other props, showing the execution process of Madeira embroidery and its history.
