The hillfort is located midway up the slopes of the Serra da Arada, covering an area of ​​over seven hectares and rising 610 meters above sea level. Carvings of the basic rock art typology of the Northwest Peninsula were discovered, concluding that it was inhabited between the 7th century BC and the 4th century AD. Remains of over 25 houses with circular, oval, and rectangular plans remain. The settlement was defended by a triple wall with a perimeter of 660 meters.

The chapel in the village of Valdegas, dedicated to the divine Holy Spirit, deployed at the entrance to the village is a granite building, of rectangular plan oriented Northeast\/Southwest. On the main façade, with a porch, has a ported rectangular and in the elongation of the gable, a belfry. Inside this temple stands the high altar in polychrome and gilded housing and a monstrance, religious imaginary in gilt, with a monstrance rifled with a dove, representing the Holy Spirit. This is the chapel which is celebrated the mass of the feast in honour of the divine Holy Spirit.

Inside the building, to the right of the entrance gate, you will find the tendal and in part fundeira, the oven where the local population continues to bake traditional bread. This equipment was, in ancient times, an important role in village sociality, the so-called "coffee of the people", was where they gathered during the evenings, was also the hostel of the poor, beggars and pilgrims, passing through the village, which then stayed overnight.

António de Medeiros e Almeida turned his house into a house-museum in the 1970’s, creating, in 1973, the foundation with his name and donating all his goods.
