The Ducal Palace was begun in 1501 by the 4th Duke of Braganza, Jaime, and until 1640 was residence of the noble family of the Kingdom's largest. With the Ascension to the throne of the 8th Duke, d. The building of the Municipal Library of Porto was the former convent of Santo António dos Capuchos. Is a building from the late 18th century, has many inner courtyards. Was adapted to the library for Dom Pedro IV. The interior is decorated by ceramic tiles of several convents of invicta and surroundings.

This library has a general reading room for adults, a reading and activities room for children/youth, and a multipurpose room for exhibitions and other cultural events.

This library, housed in an old building, has a multipurpose room, an audiovisual room, an adult room, and a children's room. It offers magazines, daily newspapers, and local and regional newspapers for consultation.
