Library with a vast documentary collection.

This building from 1965 was once the Municipal Library. The original plan is from Fernando Távora, being the work in the first floor planned by Diamantina Galacho.

The Ducal Palace was begun in 1501 by the 4th Duke of Braganza, Jaime, and until 1640 was residence of the noble family of the Kingdom's largest. With the Ascension to the throne of the 8th Duke, d. João, the building is only used sporadically until the 19th century. D. Carlos comes to Vila Viçosa frequently and, after the Republic, the last member of the family the King d. The building of the Municipal Library of Porto was the former convent of Santo António dos Capuchos. Is a building from the late 18th century, has many inner courtyards. Was adapted to the library for Dom Pedro IV. The interior is decorated by ceramic tiles of several convents of invicta and surroundings.

Library with a collection of 26,000 documents (monographs, CDs, DVDs and periodicals) which can be consulted locally or through the Document Database.
