It is a monument built by the vilacovenses immigrants from Brazil and other inhabitants of the Earth.

The original construction of the church dates back to the 11th/12th century, and in the 18th/20th centuries it was the subject of reconstruction works. On the outside it maintains some Romanesque features, but inside its decoration is essentially Baroque.

A temple of Romanesque foundation, it retains little of its original design. Inside, the Baroque carvings on the altars and the tombs dating from the 14th and 15th centuries are noteworthy.

From the primitive church it has only kept the decorative elements existing on the behead modillions. The present façade and the bell ringer tower were built on the second half of the 16th century. The defensive tower placed next to the church is from the end of the Middle age.

The façade is typical of 18th-century art, with a door topped by an oculus and topped by a curved pediment, flanked by a bell tower. The interior is lined with tiles depicting jars and dolphins, dating from 1726. The gilded altarpiece of the main altar houses an image of Our Lady of Conception, the church's patron saint. Attached to the church is an interesting museum featuring sacred art.
