House built between 1871 and 1875, with the aim of housing a laboratory and photography studio. The building, an expressive monument of iron architecture, deserves a visit in itself. Here you can visit some permanent and other temporary exhibitions. The building pioneered a transitional architecture that admirably fused art and technology in stone, stucco, iron and glass.

Permanent exhibition of Madeira embroidery, since the 1860s until about 1930. it owns decorative objects, furniture and clothes from the same period. Here you’ll get to know the story of embroidery making process.

A pedestrian walk that is about 8 km long and has eight stops is offered by the Ecomuseum. During the walk, one gets to know the regional natural and cultural heritage. It departs from the main square at Rates.

The Arrimal lagoons are surrounded by calcareous wells. The Lagoa Pequena (Small Lagoon), located by Arrimal, gets the water from its own basin. Both lagoons are surrounded by pyrenean oaks, a species that is rare in this region.

Inserted in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, it is only possible to reach this naturist beach through Praia do Barril. The most typical way to get there is by taking a tourist train, but you can also walk.

Ideal space to get to know some of the region's gastronomy, whose specialties may include: lamb stew, grilled black pork soup or grilled bass sarapatel. Good wine list, with highlight to the Alentejo.

A winery belonging to the Alentejo Wine Route. The winery, in operation since 1953, is one of the region's icons and one of the most prestigious in Alto Acre. In addition to the winery, you can visit the foundation of the same name, take courses, visit the rural museum, the 19th-century courtyard, and the old olive press, depending on the tour option chosen.

The sunny, picturesque Vila de Velas, peopled in the late 15th century, is an obligatory passing point during the visit to the "Fajãs Island". The church of Saint Jorge, the mother church and the church of Our Lady of Conceição are well worth a visit. The Town Hall, the Portão do Mar (Sea's Gate) and the Museum of Religious Art are also imposing.

Located on a hill at an altitude of approximately 800 meters, in the foothills of the Serra da Estrela mountain range, this castle is believed to have been a fortified settlement occupied by the Romans and destroyed by the Moors in the 9th century, before being reclaimed by King Dinis. Only the enclosure defined by two towers with several floors remains.

Quinta do Cerrado is part of the Dão Wine Route, offering visits to the winery, the most beautiful vineyards featuring the region's selected traditional grape varieties, and the traditional rural house. You also have the opportunity to visit União Comercial da Beira, Lda., one of the oldest wine producers in the Dão region. In the 1980s, it acquired this farm, which boasts 30 hectares of vineyards, a modern winery, and a traditional rural house. A visit to this site allows you to learn more about winemaking and, most importantly, to better understand the famous Dão wines.
