The primitive construction dates back to the 16th century, which have a higher body, torn by Windows and marked on the access by an arcade. This construction, adossou-if a Pombaline building, giving rise to several patios. This building is a good exemplar of Gothic architectural heritage of old core of Lumiar.

In this House we intend to rigorously authentic environment reset, starting with the construction and genuine and quality furnishings, with a decor that respects the traditional knowledge of the region, never forgetting the comfort, present through some modern touches. Its name comes from an 18TH-century Door Knocker which still decorates the main gate. Divides two farmhouses, one with six bedrooms and another with four bedrooms; and two villas, each one with a room.

In the beginning of the XX century began a remodelling of the landscape of the Frente Marítima (maritime front), which included the repair of the so called Estrada de Carreiros (at present Avenida de Montevideu). Such repair was concluded in 1914 and included, namely, the azulejos (tiles) covering of the concrete benches spread through the gardens. All this area has been the object of a recent urban intervention, which aims to revitalise this zone, that has always been a walking leisure place.
