Founded in the 15th century, the Parish Church of Ribeira Brava, or São Bento, has undergone several interventions over time, and therefore presents Manueline, Mannerist, and Baroque characteristics. It houses a varied and rich collection of paintings, sculptures, goldsmithing, and woodcarving from the 16th and 17th centuries, making it one of the most important heritage sites in the region. Its treasure has been exhibited at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels, and within the church, it constitutes the Silverware Collection.

With around 75,000 hectares, it is one of the largest protected natural areas in Portugal and a must-see for anyone arriving in this region where nature has been very generous. The Serra de Montesinho is characterized by its rounded hills and the valleys the Sabor, Maçãs and Baceiro Rivers. The fauna is varied and rich, with emphasis on the presence of wolves, deer, roe deer, nesting birds, amphibians and reptiles. This is the only mine still active in the region, since 1965. The salt extracted by vaults and sustainers, has the chemical industry as its main destination. The mine did not work from August 1993 to September 1994, due to the change of the extraction tower. From 1994 on, the levels of yearly production have been growing and are currently about 100 tons per year, which represents, in percentual terms, about 17% of the global production volume of salt in the country.
