Dating from the early 15TH century, this church is one of the oldest of the Azores. Currently, the primitive structure, only the Gothic side door and a roof in Manueline style in the chapel of Santa Catarina.

Construction dated from the end of the XVII century, being at that time the Santa Casa da Misericórdia and its Hospital. It was later the Medical School of Funchal and is now the Regional Government Palace.

In this church are some tiles dating from the 17th century, 16th century sculpture of São Vicente and of Nossa Senhora da Graça and still images of Santa Luzia and the Holy Spirit.

About peak of 597 meters of altitude, resulting from a secondary eruption of the Serra de Santa Bárbara. In its crater there is an authentic oasis of typical endemic plants Macronesian forest.

Located in the centre of the small town of Samouco, its interior is composed of one sole nave. The façade has a simple entrance, topped by a larg window with gratings, followed by a clock. Its main lines are of the 18th century, finished in the reign of Dona Maria I.

The Ladies' Gallery is the remaining part of the palace built by the Avis dynasty in the 16th century, in the Gothic-Renaissance style. Gil Vicente staged seven of his plays in this palace, dedicated to Queen Maria of Castile and Queen Catherine of Austria. The gallery often hosts exhibitions.

A pedestrian street with various shops, cafes and restaurants. Its the main commercial artery in Vila Real de Santo António.

This is, perhaps, the most nostalgic area of the city. It is the Lisbon of the Tejo and the genuine people. On this tour, two districts are travelled over: The Prazeres and the Santo Amaro. Take delight in the river and the docks. Venture through the popular quarters like Madragoa, Calvário, Livramento or Sacramento. It is also a fun and leisure area, with warehouses transformed into bars and diverse entertaining activities. Further to the interior, grub up the valley of Alcântara by snaky mountain tracks.
