It gets its name from a nearby rock shaped like a horse. Access is by boat, but it is, nevertheless, a somewhat inhospitable place.

Located on the south bank of the Tejo river, by the Ponte 25 de Abril (April 25 Bridge), this space offers spectacular views of Lisbon. To get to the capital, one only has to get the train, the bus, the boat or go by car. Not far away, one can find the Costa da Caparica beaches.

Former Jesuit College consisting of a simple rectangular plan, developed around two cloisters, with emphasis in the Church Centre. The College was founded in the 18th century and, in 1839, d. Maria II installed here the Court and jail. In the 20th century was also installed at City Hall.

The former jail and "Domus Municipalis," one of the oldest and most emblematic buildings in Praça-Forte, now houses memories of the most significant moments in Valença's history. The archaeological remains, a glimpse into the medieval fortification, and the military heyday of Praça-Forte in the 18th century are the highlights of this center.

This building's main façade features a 16th-century portal topped with the coat of arms of Dona Leonor. On the left side is the bell tower, and on the side façade, two large 17th-century windows stand out. Inside, the triumphal arch and carved chancel are noteworthy.

This Romanic temple has altarpieces in neoclassic carving. On the inside, improved on the 19th century, it stands out the Romanic arch from the main chapel that settles in columns with decorated capitals, of which has mermaids. The nave walls are covered with sixteen hundreds glazed tiles.

A monumental temple that stands out for its symmetry and proportion balance. The main façade has a magnificent portal, topped by a large rose window, and sided by two bell towers with a pyramidal ending. In the interior, baroque, a special note to the altars in polychrome and golden carvings.

This building has a rectangular plan and it is believed that it was built on the XIII century. It only preserved the area corresponding to the main chapel, in ruins and without cover and the triumphal arch. The cornice stands out, adorned by half spheres and settled in corbels decorated with geometric and zoomorphic motifs.

This construction is from 1490 and has Diogo Boitaca signature. This is a highly important work on the Portuguese architectonic history; hence it is one of the first constructions to present Manueline architecture features. To stand out the main chapel and the glazed tiles revetment from various periods.
