The former jail and "Domus Municipalis," one of the oldest and most emblematic buildings in Praça-Forte, now houses memories of the most significant moments in Valença's history. The archaeological remains, a glimpse into the medieval fortification, and the military heyday of Praça-Forte in the 18th century are the highlights of this center.

Fortress built in the XVII century to protect the city against pirates’ attacks, being enlarged in the XVIII century. It was used with military ends until 1992, year in which it was given to the Regional Government, which turned it into a cultural space, so that now is the Contemporary Art Museum.

The church was founded in 1719 and built, as it is now, in 1753 by Inácio de Oliveira Bernardes. The façade is ended with two strong towers. The inside, lined with rich materials, has the tomb of the queen Dona Mariana Vitória, sculpted by Machado de Castro, classified as National monument.

In the Solar building, you can view themed exhibitions about Port Wine, while the space where the old cooperage once stood now houses an auditorium. They organize technical tastings of Port and Douro Wine, as well as "Portos de Honra", lunches, and dinners.

A very rocky beach separated by a small inlet that can be crossed on foot at low tide. The existing restaurants serve typical dishes at high prices. It used to be the private property of the Counts of Castro Guimarães, whose palace now functions as a museum, with direct access to the sand.

The emblematic Café Astória, part of the history of the city of Porto, became now Astoria's elegant Restaurant. Open to the city and with a breathtaking view of the Boulevard of the allies, the Chef proposes you a Portuguese cuisine with a contemporary twist, where the use of local products has a prominent position.

House of Baroque architecture with separate volume Chapel House. Access to the terrace is made through a portal. The building has housed the Court of the County of Santa Cruz de Riba Tâmega.
