The museum is a result of Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian’s will, an Armenian that gathered more than 6000 works of art during his life, that are now assembled in this beautiful space. It is an impressive collection, covering a temporal space from the ancient Egyptian empire until the XX century. Here are represented different civilizations and hemispheres.

The church, built in the first half of the 16th century, features Manueline and Mannerist architecture. In the second half of the 18th century, it underwent extensive renovations, including the altarpiece, decoration of the chancel, arch, and vault. In the late 19th century, the choir was built, and the nave vaults were decorated. It now houses a nursing home.

Was built by Sir John George Dailey and Paul, remaining in the possession of his family until 1937, when it is acquired by the State for this install Industrial and commercial school of Angra do Heroísmo.
