The Celas Monastery is a construction of sober character, showing the influence of several architectonical styles. Their primary concern is to ensure the Church of Queen Santa Isabel and adjacent spaces that belong to and promote the cult of Queen Santa Isabel. In the altarpiece of the chancel of the Church is the silver and Crystal URN, where is venerated the body of Queen Santa Isabel.

The monastery of this Palace was inhabited by Monks from 1451. In the Church, highlighted by a tomb set dating from the 15th and 16th centuries: Tomb of Fernão Teles de Meneses, dated 1481, and Tomb of João da Silva and Aires da Silva, designed by the sculptor Diogo Pires Manueline-o-Boy.
