The viewpoint is located in the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Penha, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the village of Alva and the Serra de Montemuro.

This viewpoint offers the best views of the island. Delight in the green hills that surround the Fajã de São João which rises inside, framed by the blue sea.

From this vantage point you can see Caldas de Monchique and a fair bit of the historical path of Barranco do Banho. Zone of archeological interest.

Ruins of a medieval castle that was the siege of the "Julgado of Penafiel de Sousa". On a rock, at the top of the castle, there is a sculpture of a warrior. Pre-historic paintings were found here.
